Stepping Stones Museum to Host Family Fun Fest
to Raise Funds for the Hygeia Foundation

(Norwalk, CT)- On Saturday, April 8th 2006 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Stepping Stones will host the first annual Family Fun Fest to benefit the Hygeia Foundation. The Hygeia Foundation is a philanthropic, non-profit organization dedicated to helping all families who have lost a child early in life through miscarriage, stillbirth or infant death.

Co-chaired by Dr. Michael Berman, founder of the Hygeia Foundation, and the Hygeia Foundation’s Parental Board, the Family Fun Fest is open to children of all ages and will include fun activities such as arts and crafts, face painting, stories, a special appearance from Peter Rabbit, singing, dancing and tumbling as well as the museum’s various exhibits.  Event cost of entry is $50.00 (Donor); $75.00 (Friend); $100.00 (Sponsor). Proceeds from ticket sales and raffle drawing will help the Hygeia Foundation fund bereavement support services for families, develop and expand medical and advocacy programs, create a national headquarters and appoint an on-site Executive Director.

“We are thrilled to kick off our first annual Family Fun Fest here at the Stepping Stones Museum. Children become our life and our dreams …. yet thousands of families from the area and many more across the country silently grieve their loss- through miscarriage, stillbirth or newborn death,”  says Dr. Berman.   “The goal of the Hygeia Foundation is to provide these families a home to share their grief and find support, comfort and, above all, hope during their time of need.”

“We are delighted that The Hygeia Foundation has selected Stepping Stones for their fundraising event,” says Stepping Stones Museum for Children. “The museum's whimsical design and interactive exhibits make it a great venue for special events, especially those geared toward families.”

Many of the area’s leading businesses have generously donated their services: Borders Books, Build a Bear, Creative Castle, Mary Ann Hall’s MUSIC for CHILDREN and the Little Gym.

Hygeia Foundation

The Hygeia Foundation was founded in 1995 by Dr. Michael Berman, a Yale University Board-Certified Obstetrician Gynecologist and supported by dedicated parent advisory board, all of whom experienced the loss of a child. The Hygeia Foundation was developed to provide programs to educate, counsel and support families who grieve the loss of a pregnancy, newborn or infant child. Dr. Berman and the Parent Board together have melded their sorrows, passions and experiences to advocate for all families who have personally witnessed this type of grief.
